Emergency Warming Shelter
In the middle of Southern Oregon’s snowstorm (2017) CHP and its volunteers, with the help of a local church, came together to open an emergency warming shelter for anyone who didn’t have a warm place to stay during the storm. This shelter provided a warm environment, food, warm clothing, winter boots, hygiene supplies, and much more. However many of the amazing people we served shared with us that it wasn’t the provided supplies that touched their hearts the most, it was the warm, compassionate, welcoming atmosphere the shelter provided. At CHP we strive to always provide this much-needed love and compassion. With the help of our volunteers, our friends at Rogue Retreat found a permanent location and took over the warming shelter. It is now a continual winter resource open from December-February.
